The newly signed Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022 helps fund energy efficiency advancements of the nation’s building stock. Several provisions in the IRA provide funding for spray foam insulation, including the 25C tax credit, the 45L tax credit, High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Act, and the HOMES Act.

The original 25C Tax Credit gives homeowners up to $500 for retrofitting their existing home with energy efficient products like spray foam insulation. In 2023, this Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit increases to $1200.
The best part for homeowners is, this credit can be used multiple years. Now, you can complete a project in stages and get the most out of these savings over time.
The Federal Energy Policy Act, known as 45L, gives homebuilders $2000 per home built in 2022 that meet certain energy efficiency standards. In 2023, the New Energy Efficient Homes Tax Credit gives homebuilders up to $5000 per home, or $1000 per multifamily unit, for qualified energy efficient new construction buildings.

The IRA provides funding for a High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Program. HEEHRA is designed to help low to moderate-income families go green by providing rebates for energy efficient upgrades to help lower monthly utility bills, improve indoor air quality, and reduce carbon emissions.
The Home Owner Managing Energy Savings (HOMES) provides rebates to homeowners to improve the overall efficiency of their existing home. The more energy savings your project will achieve, the greater the rebate.
